Sohgail and I attended Domino's Xmas Party last week and we were in for a treat! We were dressed - or attempted to dress - to our best X'masyy-like attire so excuse our gay couple wear. haha!

Like any X'mas party there were lots of goodies and games for everyone. One of such game required me to stand in as a christmas tree. -.- Look at how pleasant I am.

Christmas trees of the night

Our 2nd game was to come out with a cheer that included
Domino's, 50% off, Thank you, All pizzas and 15 minutes.
And this is how it goes (in the jingle bells tune)...

Dominos Dominos, 50% off.
All pizzas all pizzas, 15 minutes out. (hey)

Domino's Domino's, 50% off.
Oh what fun, we have fun, thank you from our hearts!

The 'winning' team had to perform their cheer for the public and
I must say it didn't feel bad losing afterall. haha!

Goodie bags and chocolates for all of us!

Amidst those games, my tummy had to go through some major jamming session.
Food!
That was what I was waiting for the entire night!

Thank you Domino's, William and TIN for the invite!
The event wouldn't have been possible without you!

Merry Christmas
and
Happy New Year
to all my lovely readers! (:

Also another late review all the way back from halloween due to exams.

SYNC has done it again!
Launching yet another innovative korean cuisine in our little red dot.
Allow me to introduce Singapore's first ever Korean tapas bar
that paved it's way to Serangoon Gardens,
SYNC Korean Tapas Bar

The owners got their concept and inspiration from their frequent travels to Korea and sparked their interest and passion about Korean cuisines. Since I attended my student exchange in Seoul National University, I AM REALLY EXCITED to be able to share this with all of you! Like Koreans, I am big on alcohol and munchies(tapas). Maybe I can be an owner of such a store in the future too. haha.

Everyone who is on the Hallyu wave like me...
LETS GO!
(in girls' generation's voice)

Taken from http://dictionary.reference.com/

what's halloween without some deco

김치
Kimchi
S$9.90

Korean meals are never complete without their favourite 반찬(side dish), kimchi. This is currently the best tasting kimchi I have tasted in Singapore. No kidding.
Spicy and tangy. *thumbs up*

해물과자
Crackling
S$9.90
crackling of umami cod chips

fragrant and unstoppable!

소고기 깻싶쌈
Sogogi Jowl
S$10.90
char-grilled beef jowl in hoba & garlic confit

I will be broke from over-ordering this as the beef cheeks are freaking tender and freaking delicious. Best combination with soju.

교자만두
Mandu
S$9.90
crispy minced pork & mushroom dumpling, salsa

Another excellent tapas with drinks. Very flavourful and addictive!

닭강정
Dak-Kangjung
S$9.90
deep-fried sweet & spicy chicken bites, ricotta, chili tempura

Spicy tender chicken with enough fats to make it juicy but not overly overpowering.

삼겹살
S$10.90
char-grilled pork belly with scallion salad& chili yuzu dressing

Meat was crispy like bacon and the sauce was balanced and goes really well with the salad.

닭갈비 빠에야
Chicken Paella
S$38.90
spicy chicken paella with onions, mushroom, cabbage, sausage, kimchi

This paella dish wasn't readily accepted by my taste buds. The spiciness, sourness and tomatoes were somewhat conflicting and having a war in my mouth. Weird, I feel.

호떡
Hotteok
S$8.90
pan-fried chewy sweet korean pancake with banana foster (add S$1.50 for vanilla ice cream)

The sweet pancake had a really nice texture. Somewhat like chewy rice with chunky nuts in there. And the caramelized bananas sealed the deal for me. This is something I would whip up in the kitchen for my family! Delicious!

미 슷 가루
Misugaru
S$8.90
misugaru lava cake, vanilla ice cream, strawberries & lime compote

Lava cake that was made with 12 types of grains. Apart from it being a lava cake which I love. I would prefer the matcha version that I tried previously at their SYNC outlet at Westgate.

Soju Mojito
S$9.90

I am missing my soju from korea. 1000won (about $1.50) a bottle.

Soju Peach Shot
S$7.90

SYNC Korean Tapas Bar is definitely a legit place to chill and hang out with friends if you're looking for alcohol and snacks to go along with it. Not sure about you, but I feel that Serangoon gardens can be a little inconvenient to get to or leave from and parking is always always always a bitch. To drivers, please refrain from drinking(which can be very challenging) or just don't drive there at all.
Stay safe drivers!

SYNC Korean Tapas Bar is a YES for me!

So I have been gone for the longest time. If you think if I've been busy traveling around the world or spending my time on games, you are soooooo wrong!

I'm currently in my final year at the university and
I've been really busy mugging for finals all day all night.

EAT SLEEP MUG REPEAT!

That's literally my life for the last month or so.

Pie Face originated from Australia and are renowned for their gourmet pies which they bake from scratch. Could still faintly remember trying the chicken mushroom pie about 2 years back in Brisbane during their winter and recalling how awesome it tasted. Thus I knew I had to drop my books and visit the world's largest pie chain that had just hit the shores of our little red dot.

Every pie is decorated with a different playful 'emoticon' to distinguish themselves. They come in regular and also mini sizes for those who are watching their weight. That's definitely not me.

The thai chicken curry pie (which I don't remember seeing it in Brisbane)
is an asian-inspired flavour which I thought was the best I tried among the rest.
They could up the spicy level a notch though.

Who knows in the near future, we could see more exciting local flavours like chilli crab, otah or even bazhang!

Sweet pies aren't really my thing but I enjoyed a bite of the sour tangy taste from the lemon pie and the nostalgic tang from the green tea with red bean pie. Do share those tiny tartlets if you're not a sweet tooth like me or expect yourself turning into a energizer bunny!

All in all, the puff pastry did work their magic with their soft and fluffy crust but
weren't at the level enough to take my breath away with their current flavours.
Jem says more spicy flavours please.

My Anaconda don't...
My Anaconda don't...
My Anaconda don't want none unless you got buns hun.

One thing for sure, I found the buns I was looking for. ^^

I got really excited when I found out that Eggs & Berries launched some really unique burgers.
The build-your-own coloured burgers to be exact. I've always loved my burgers and now I am able to choose my favourite combination. What more, I get to enjoy the meal with my favourite people in the universe, Sohgail & Han Chong!

Eggs & Berries is where gourmands can dig into hearty American classics served in generous portions. Only natural and fresh ingredients are used in the restaurant. All dishes are handmade by a line-up of dedicated chefs. True to the restaurant’s moniker, eggs round off the dishes.  Diners can have their eggs done in one of four methods: over easy, poached, scrambled or sunny side up.  For pancake and waffle lovers, diners can find different menus featuring in-house soft and moist small pancakes that are served with three types of sauces: Maple Syrup, Chocolate Sauce and Strawberry or Raspberry sauce.  The mouth-watering waffles are crispy on the outside and they are served with a scoop of ice cream — but they taste equally good with butter and maple syrup!

In Eggs & Berries, the patties are made fresh on site and the burger buns
used are delivered daily and made with all-natural ingredients (no artificial colours and flavourings). I mentioned about mixing and matching the burger buns and handmade gourmet patties didn't I?

... so let's go!

Step 1: Select 1 Naturally Flavoured Bun

Spinach Pesto (green) : helps nourish the eyes and bones
Turmeric Curry (yellow) : helps achieve good skin
Smoked Paprika & Beetroot (pink) : helps manage blood pressure
Charcoal Squid Ink (black) : aids in detoxification

Step 2: Select your choice of Gourmet Patty

E&B Beef & Egg Burger (S$13.90)
Pork & Sage with Paprika (S$12.90)
Provence Herbs Lamb (S$13.90)
Cajun Spiced Chicken (S$12.90)

All burgers are served with a side of potato wedges and mixed greens too.

No meal is complete without a drink. While waiting for our burgers to be made from scratch,
we couldn't resist but to order some smoothies.

Sweet Groovy Mango
(Fresh mango, milk, vanilla)
S$6.50

It is a mango smoothie with a sophisticated name, very common but I won't discount the fact
that it was really refreshing to start the meal with.

Strawberry Mango Tea
S$5.90

The girl doesn't like milk, thus no smoothie.
And I convinced her not to drink the same old ice lemon tea. YAY!
The tea has legit strawberry bits floating around and is thirst-quenching. I'm not complaining about the strong tea taste but it does overpower any tiny hint of mango I was trying to detect.

Green Mountain Bee
(Avocado, bee pollen, vanilla)
S$6.50

Honestly not a big fan of avocado.. Okay, that's an understatement. I dislike avocado.
But despite the heavy milky texture, it did not taste that bad after all.
Not sure is it me or the way avocado should taste like, I thought I tasted guava in there.

Banana Sunset
(Orange, banana, vanilla)
S$6.50

It tasted like liquid goreng pisang in a good way.

Alright... Spot light back to our stars of the day!

Starting from the burger buns, The yellow(turmeric curry) bun caught both my eye and tongue as it was the most flavourful one amongst the rest. For the rest, I found it a challenge to pinpoint the flavour as it was masked by the rest of the ingredients.

As for the choice of gourmet meat, I personally prefer the beef and lamb. Both of them embody an incomparable and indescribable tang which left me hanging,
wanting to know more about how it was made.

My choices:

Turmeric Curry Flavoured Bun + E&B Beef & Egg Burger (S$13.90)
&
Turmeric Curry Flavoured Bun + Provence Herbs Lamb (S$13.90)

Feel free to drop your comments below to recommend me your favourite combination!

Another item not to be missed...

Truffle & Mushroom Fries
S$9.90

Apart from the burgers, this dish totally made my day!
I was so distracted by the fragrance while trying to take a picture of it.
And unlike other truffle fries which are poorly coated,
not one fry was missed here.
*thumbs up*

Aglio Olio King River Prawn
S$19.90

My love for aglio olios are indescribable and I like mine the traditional way. I found this a little too cheesy on the pasta. So, if I could, I would request for the cheese prawns and pasta to be served separately. Win-Win!

Eggs Benedict Doppio
S$16.90

For a restaurant named, Eggs & Berries, I was a little disappointed with this dish.
Although I should admit first I'm not a great fan of American breakfasts, I thought this was a little too ordinary. Not sure why 'NTUC' hash browns (or their look-a-like) was used in this dish too.
Sorry, but this is not for me.

Mango Tango
S$10.90

Light and soft battered pancakes that sealed the deal.

Over The Rainbow
S$8.90/S$15.90

I felt that the waffles weren't the best in town.

Good selection of syrups to use as much as you like. But try to use them sparingly and only add more if you think it's not sweet enough. (:

There were many hits but as many misses too.
However, I would definitely revisit Eggs & Berries for their burgers and truffle mushroom fries!
Oh god...

I'm already craving the tumeric curry lamb burger. *sobs*
So much for wanting to go on a diet. *facepalm*

Thank you Liqin and Brand Cellar for the invite and the opportunity to ruin my diet plans.

*grin*
